About eHarmony
eHarmony uses a comprehensive compatibility matching system based on 32 dimensions of personality and relationship science. New members complete a detailed questionnaire, and the algorithm surfaces highly compatible matches rather than a large pool of random profiles. This makes it slower-paced but more intentional than swipe apps. eHarmony is best suited for people who are serious about finding a lasting relationship and are willing to invest time in the process.
Editor's Review
eHarmony is built entirely around long-term compatibility and it shows — every design decision pushes you toward a serious relationship. The trade-off is that it's expensive, slow, and offers very little control. Worth it if marriage is your goal.
Positives
- ✓Compatibility algorithm based on a detailed 150-question assessment
- ✓Consistently high rate of matches leading to marriages
- ✓Guided communication tools help introverts break the ice
- ✓Serious user base — casual daters are filtered out by the cost
Negatives
- ✕Expensive, especially on short-term plans
- ✕Very limited control over who you're shown — algorithm decides
- ✕Long onboarding questionnaire takes 20-30 minutes to complete
- ✕Interface and app experience feel less modern than competitors

Worth trying if it fits your situation
eHarmony is built entirely around long-term compatibility and it shows — every design decision pushes you toward a serious relationship. The trade-off is that it's expensive, slow, and offers very little control. Worth it if marriage is your goal. What I liked most was compatibility algorithm based on a detailed 150-question assessment. Main gripe: expensive, especially on short-term plans. Worth knowing: free users can complete the personality profile and see thumbnail photos of matches, but cannot view full profiles or communicate without subscribing.
